Today we looked at some interesting and sometimes funny word problems and created systems of equations to solve them. ![]()

In this lesson, we looked at how to solve systems using elimination, and discussed the strategy behind when to use elimination v. substitution. ![]()
This is the first video for today's work covering the concept development and first 2 problems of the guided practice. WATCH THIS VIDEO FIRST!!
This is the second part of the video for today's work covering the final 6 problems of guided practice. WATCH THIS SECOND!!
Here is the answer key for the independent practice, containing answers, and the "check" to verify they are correct. ![]()
On Friday, we explored systems of equations that had no solutions (i.e. graphically, they were parallel lines-same slope, different y-intercept) and those that infinitely many solutions (i.e. graphically, they were collinear-same slope and same y-intercept). ![]()
In this lesson, we looked at graphical solutions to systems of linear equations, looking at equations written in slope intercept form and standard form. This lesson and the homework that went along with it served as a good reminder of how to graph linear equations. ![]()
In this introductory lesson covering systems of equations, we looked at a few words problems to get students more familiar with the concept of a system being two equations in two variables. We finished the day by talking about "The Interview"--the Seth Rogen and James Franco movie that was released directly to video aside from small release in art house cinemas during December 2014. ![]()
Below is the study guide and ANSWER KEY for the mid module study guide to accompany lessons 9-20 covering slope and linear equations. I don't think I made too many mistakes this time. Enjoy! ![]()

In this last lesson prior to our test, we'll look at comparing two slopes and making comparisons about real world situations involving unit rates and proportional relationships. ![]()
