THURSDAY 3:00-4:00 Tasks Involving Probability/Statistics Probability is another topic that has an abundance of practical applications and we need to consider the possibility that a performance task might have a probability element embedded in it. To that end, you will consider two tasks on probability , one involving a lottery and the other involving planning inventory for a candy sale.

WEDNESDAY 3:00-4:00 Tasks Involving Geometry Geometry is a rich topic and a good source for more involved performance tasks because of its many real world applications. On Wednesday, you will look at two separate tasks related to geometry. These tasks both involve looking at three dimensional objects, calculating volume and designing objects for optimum performance and efficiency.
TUESDAY 3:00-4:00 Tackling a Performance Task Performance Tasks ask you to complete a significant task and often cover more than one content standard (for example scale factor and unit rates). We will complete a performance task, deconstruct it, and go over sample full credit (and partial credit) answers.
MONDAY 3:00-4:00PM Identifying and Fixing Common Errors. Error analysis is a big part of this test. Are you able to identify the most common mistakes that students make? Can you fix these mistakes and EXPLAIN why you are correct? We will explore some of the most common errors students make in the 7th grade math curriculum.
Attached below are two pretty extensive documents that show released test questions from the State of New York department of education for the past 2 years. Please feel free to download and read the material carefully! Enjoy!
As we begin to think more seriously about the new computerized standardized tests that students will encounter, I thought it would be helpful to collect resources that you can draw upon to help prepare for the SBAC. Please let me know if you have other sites that you've come across, and we can add them below.
Common Core State Standards--I think it's helpful to know what exactly your students will be tested on. The link above is to the Common Core State Standards for Math...Grade 7 standards begin on page 46. This is what their test (regardless of their 7.1 or 7.2 assignment) will consist of content wise. Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium is the state led consortium that is developing the tests we are taking. This link is to their home page. I would urge you to explore and find out more. SBAC Testing: This is the link to the main page dedicated to testing. You can learn more about the test here.
